Sometimes the last page of a book is not The End. Children’s stories are usually delightful to read–they draw you in and leave you smiling–but the ones whose messages sneak back into your mind later and nudge you to do something differently are particularly special.

🌟 Hold someone a little closer. 🌟 Follow a dream. 🌟 Look again. 🌟 Be a helper. 🌟 Feel grateful. 🌟 Ask more questions. 🌟 Create something. 🌟

There is magic in just the right match-up of author and illustrator, and there are certain picture books that are so well done they really are a special treat for readers of all ages. But which ones?

With thousands of books at the bookstore and library to choose from, unfortunately many more that never made it to their shelves, and countless others whose age has made them harder to find, we’re looking at a real challenge.

Inspiration In Print is a project designed to draw attention to books that have a lasting impact and find creative ways to make sure children have access to them.

Current goals include:

  • gathering additional title suggestions from readers
  • finding used copies to share
  • bringing the collection to community events and spaces
  • gifting books to teachers
  • encouraging libraries to purchase missing titles
  • making printable recommendation lists for nonprofits
  • blogging about stories and related activities grouped by topic
